Jo Taylor is a local artist who exhibits all over the world.

She is predominately an equestrian artist whose extensive knowledge of animal physiology combined with her natural love of horses enables her to produce these wonderful expressive, abstract paintings and sketches.

It may take a while but a spot has been reserved in my home where a charcoal horse will eventually reside.

Latest Painting Project – Georgian Dining Table.

I am sure I have commented on my love for round dining tables before but just for good measure I shall do it again.

Not only are they aesthetically pleasing but they are also very sociable pieces of furniture as everyone gets to chat easily to each other and no one gets the dud seat.

This Georgian table is a perfect example.

Wherever possible I always try to leave the wood of table tops in its original condition but unfortunately this piece had to be painted so I chose Nearly black chalk paint and Elephant Grey for the legs.

The top has been protected with a matt varnish and the legs with a clear wax which were then given a very light distressed finish.

Original brass feet castors.

Currently for sale – £325.00

I do have a thing for symmetry when styling my home.

Pairs of vases, chairs, candlesticks, paintings etc etc.

Which is why I think I am drawn to the idea of a herringbone fireplace.

Something calming and aesthetically pleasing about the symmetrical design.

Food for thought as I have two fireplaces in my sitting room, sounds very grand but really isn’t, one of which I love and the other I try to hide with various objects of furniture.

It hasn’t been lit in thirteen years as we always light the other one but I would love to transform it using this herringbone design then it would no longer be an eyesore but a decorative part of the room.

Then I would style it with a pair of chairs either side, naturally.
