This was an unloved large piece of brown furniture that needed some tlc.
As soon as I got my hands on it I gave all the hardware some elbow grease and immediately could see how fabulous this piece was going to look.
I began with a few coats of Earth Stone chalk paint on the exterior, a lovely brown/grey colour.
Then I applied a coat of clear wax.
On top of that I painted a mixture of diluted pale grey chalk paint which was then wiped off with a clean cloth to create a layered effect and the whole piece was protected again with clear wax and given a distressed finish.
The interior I painted using both Graphite and Nearly Black chalk paints.
This paintwork was protected with dark wax and lightly distressed.
A wonderful piece with oodles of storage that is both practical and beautiful.

I am sure I have commented on my love for round dining tables before but just for good measure I shall do it again.
Not only are they aesthetically pleasing but they are also very sociable pieces of furniture as everyone gets to chat easily to each other and no one gets the dud seat.
This Georgian table is a perfect example.
Wherever possible I always try to leave the wood of table tops in its original condition but unfortunately this piece had to be painted so I chose Nearly black chalk paint and Elephant Grey for the legs.
The top has been protected with a matt varnish and the legs with a clear wax which were then given a very light distressed finish.
Original brass feet castors.

These are a special chest of drawers as they are perfectly proportioned, oh and they are Georgian as well which always helps.
Bow style with fabulous brass ornate handles.
I chose a beautiful khaki paint which inspired my colour combo crush post yesterday.
Just wish I’d had a navy backdrop to display the drawers against…
I have a feeling you may be seeing a lot more khaki painted furniture from me in the future.
