Latest Painting Project – Bedroom Chair.

I particularly love the bluebell carvings on the back of this vintage bedroom elbow chair and I wanted to choose a fabric that was in keeping with this detail.

I chose Zoffany’s beautiful Rosetta linen fabric and painted the frame using a combination of pale grey and beige chalk paints.

The frame was then waxed and given a distressed finish.

A sweet chair that is perfect for a bedroom, hallway or sitting room.

Latest Project – Nursery Chair.

I was asked by a customer if I could source a suitable chair for her impending baby’s bedroom.

She already had a fabric in mind which was Peony & Sage’s beautiful Fudge Hare linen fabric but she didn’t want to use it all over so I suggested a few ideas and she opted for the one seen below.

I chose an Ian Mankin Olive linen with a natural linen to compliment the Hare fabric.

So sweet.

Latest Project – Re-Upholstered Victorian Slipper Chair.

What drew me most to this chair was its beautiful shape.

A beautiful slipper chair with lovely turned legs on castors and wire frame that has been re-upholstered using Ian Mankin’s gorgeous red linen stripe.

All hand stitched.

I can see this chair with a couple of aztec or floral print cushions thrown on to compliment the stripes.

Currently for sale, if you click on the Shop link at the top of the page you will be directed to my Shop.

Paint The Town With Red Stripes.

I am waiting for a gorgeous Victorian slipper chair to be upholstered in a red linen stripe that I will post soon.

You can see from these images how versatile the colour red can be.

Latest Projects.

Tables, you can never have too many in my opinion.

They come in all shapes and sizes and serve many purposes.

This particular table I spotted is a mahogany fold over table that was once of a day used as a cards or games table.

Today it makes a wonderful hall or console table that if required can also be used for a more functional purpose.

The top is folded in half and fixed to the base via a wide circular peg then if you want to open the top you simply lift it off, open it up and pop it back on.

I painted the base using Annie Sloan’s Country Grey, gave it a heavily distressed finish then a coat of clear wax.

The top was painted in Annie Sloan’s Graphite chalk paint, waxed and distressed finish.

Continuing along the green theme, I purchased a vintage footstool and wanted to use a Designers Guild luxurious velvet alongside a vintage braid I’d bought.

I asked the upholsterer to do a really deep button back which looks fantastic and the cabriole legs were polished up a treat.

Farmhouse pine tables are always in high demand and this lovely example of one sold pretty quickly.

I stripped back the top and gave it a clear wax to bring out the grain of the wood and painted the legs using Autentico’s Nearly Black chalk paint.

Just adore this paint, it has a gorgeous blue hue to the colour which gives the black an almost liquid effect.

Finished it with a clear wax and lightly distressed finish.

A home project using the same paint for my kitchen table.

A commission piece, apologies about the blurred photo.

The drawers were painted using Autentico’s After Rain, a beautiful subtle grey and the side columns were painted with the same colour and mixed with a white paint in order to highlight this feature.
